Dear Friends:

This week we welcome second session faculty: violinists Ronald Copes and Jonathan Crow; violist Katherine Murdock; cellists Barbara Stein Mallow and Jerry Grossman and pianist Jane Coop. They join our constants Artistic Director Seymour Lipkin and violinist Laurie Smukler for the next three weeks of chamber music making. Something new after the concerts this weekend – ten young artists will be on stage for you to ask them questions about their time at Kneisel.

Kneisel young artists On Tour tonight: in Bangor at All Souls Church (Fauré: Piano trio in D minor, Op. 120; Haydn: String quartet in G major, Op. 76. No. 1; Beethoven: Piano quartet in E-flat major, No. 1) and in Deer Isle at Burnt Cove Church (Haydn: String quartet No. 37 in C major, Op. 50, No. 2; Mendelssohn: Piano trio in C minor; Beethoven: String quartet No. 16, Op. 135). Both concerts are at 7:00 p.m.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Wednesday, August 5 Kneisel Hall young artists are joining Bill McGlaughlin at the Reach Performing Arts Center on Deer Isle for An evening of Music and Commentary.  McGlaughlin, (musician, conductor, composer and music commentator) is the host of NPR’s About Exploring Music. The evening will be one of great music and insights. Tickets are on sale at Kneisel Hall and the gWatson Gallery in Stonington.
