2020 Season Canceled

At our March 28 meeting, the Kneisel Hall Board of Trustees unanimously, and very sadly, voted to cancel our summer 2020 season.

Given the magnitude of the health challenges facing our country and the world, and the safety risks that the season would have presented, we had no other choice.

A summer without music at Kneisel Hall, and without the company of the faculty, the young artists, and each other, is hard to contemplate.  We will miss everyone.

All of our gifted, brilliant Young Artists who were accepted for this summer are being offered automatic re-acceptance for 2021.  If at all possible, we will offer them a distance-learning program for this summer to provide at least a good measure of the faculty coaching they would have had from an on-campus experience.

Our concert ticket sales, your underwriting and your unrestricted gifts are what cover the cost of the on-campus program.  Without concert and underwriting income, we will be hard-pressed to pay for this summer’s alternative program – and to that end, we ask:

Would you like to give your existing or planned subscription or underwriting as an unrestricted donation (which would be, of course, a fully tax-deductible gift)? That will help to close the gap. Of course, if you would like a refund, let us know and you will receive it. In either case, please contact Executive Director Ellen Werner (at ellen@kneisel.org) or at (917) 446-4551) and let her know what you would like to do.

We are grateful for your continued support. We are committed to a strong rebound for 2021, and we look forward to seeing you on the Kneisel Hall campus then and for years to come!

On behalf of the Board, of Executive Director Ellen Werner and of Artistic Director Laurie Smukler, I hope this finds you and your loved ones well and strong.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Kehl
