A Delightful Summer Day at Kneisel Hall

The summer days in Maine have been hot, but we are lucky to have fabulous chamber music to keep us cool.Join us for Kneisel Hall’s Week 6 Faculty Concert program to beat the summer heat. The program kicks off with a charming string duo by W. A. Mozart, full of lively interplay between the violin and viola. Then, take a delight in Richard Strauss’s cello sonata, which offers a glimpse into a 19 year-old composer who was encouraged to listen to the music of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schumann. In fact, one can hear their influence in Strauss’s cello sonata, while also revealing his lush and heroic expressiveness we often associate with his orchestral tone poems. Now to immerse in the “finest qualities of Mendelssohn’s immaculate art,” our faculty presents Mendelssohn’s piano trio in C minor. When something is described as “expertly crafted with charm and polish … achieving superb clarity and balance,” how can we resist??We can’t think of a better way to recover from the hot weather than to listen to such wonderful music! Tune in to our YouTube channel starting 7:30pm EDT starting Saturday, August 14 to listen to our Week 6 Virtual Concert. The concert stream will be available on YouTube for one week.

Enjoy!
