Violist, Frank Shaw is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated chamber orchestra, A Far Cry. He was a Young Artist at Kneisel Hall from 2000-2003, and continued to perform there from 2008-2017 with A Far Cry. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, he studied at The Cleveland Institute of Music with Jeffrey Irvine and Lynn Ramsey, and later attended New England Conservatory where he studied with Martha Katz. As an avid chamber musician, he has collaborated with the Audubon and Borromeo Quartets, and toured extensively throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas as performer and teacher. Frank enjoys working with young musicians and indigenous communities and has had the opportunity to do so with the organizations of Sound Impact and Cultures in Harmony. His recordings and live performances can be heard on Centaur Records, Azica Records, Parma Recordings, Spotify, Performance Today, Boston’s WGBH as well as Maine and Vermont Public Radios. He performs regularly with the A Far Cry and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and currently resides in Napa, California with his wife. He is happy to return to the Kneisel Hall stage this summer.
