Shattered Glass

Shattered Glass is a conductorless string ensemble that fuses the beauty and precision of an orchestra with the raw energy of a punk rock band. From its inception in 2012 SG has been musician operated and fiercely dedicated to changing the face of classical music through member-chosen programming, rotating leadership and collective artistic direction.

This fresh and exciting approach to all aspects of performance has led to a wide array of opportunities: Multiple self-governed Midwest tours, performances at high profile events such as at TEDxEAST, a Carnegie Hall premiere at Zankel Hall in 2013 and a performance in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2014 featuring violin soloist Alexander Markov. Equally active in educational outreach, Shattered Glass has worked with hundreds of young artists at schools and programs in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan.
