Summer nights in Maine can be chilly, but the music at Kneisel Hall is always sizzling!
Week 4 Virtual Concert opens with mellow yet affable Piano Quartet in E-flat Major by W. A. Mozart, a perfect opening piece, with subtle interplay between instruments throughout. Next up is Violin Sonata by Charles Ives, a dazzling display of our faculty duo’s brilliance and dynamic artistry.
Then, sit back in a comfy chair for Brahms Sextet No. 1 because you will want to savor every note. When the young Brahms completed his first sextet at age 27, only a few composers had written for this combination of instruments (two violins, two violas, two cellos). Yet the music is mature, and you might feel a sense of comforting nostalgia.
Tune in to our YouTube channel starting 7:30pm EDT, Saturday, July 31 to listen. The concert stream will be available on YouTube for one week.
Week 5, 6, and 7 will feature our Session 2 faculty members, who arrived just earlier this week and they are already deep into rehearsing, teaching and coaching. There is no slowing down at Kneisel Hall and it’s turning out to be a thrilling summer of music making!
